Listed for sale is a Richard Schultz stainless steel armchair prototype with perforated steel seat, produced circa 1980. This is a marvelous and rare example of this model series, which was intended to take the place of the famous 1966 series. The matte black powder-coated steel frame is in terrific shape. As quoted from Peter Schultz: Prototypes for new seating line designed for Knoll circa 1980. Knoll requested a new design to replace the 1966 Collection which they were discontinuing. Shown in Knoll au Louvre book, first edition only. Line never produced by Knoll. Prototype with perforated steel seat. This example was acquired directly from Peter Schultz, the son of Richard Schultz and co-owner of Richard Schultz Design. He remained a hugely influential part of the company for decades until production rights were sold back to Knoll in 2012. Peter Schultz annotated a list of details for each piece listed. I am thus able to verify both the authenticity and accuracy of each piece s background. Please note, multiple prototypes are available from different Schultz designs. Please note our other listings to see these examples.

This item measures at 22 tall x 23 deep x 31 wide.
